The development of medium-sized cities (20,000–50,000 inhabitants) has become increasingly significant in the context of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusivity. The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative seeks to integrate these three principles into urban environments, with a strong emphasis on local needs and identity. Čakovec, a city with a rich urban heritage and a long tradition of planned development, offers an inspiring framework for exploring such approaches. The student projects presented in this publication examine how NEB principles can be creatively and contemporarily applied to the transformation of Čakovec’s urban spaces, offering new perspectives, visions, and solutions for the city’s future development.
