Fundamentals of Statics for Architects

The digital textbook "Fundamentals of Statics for Architects" was created by consolidating teaching materials from the course Load-Bearing Structures I at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. It is primarily intended for architecture students, with the aim of introducing them to the basic principles of structural statics necessary for the design and analysis of load-bearing structures.
The textbook is written in a somewhat simpler manner than is typical for structural statics textbooks designed for civil engineering students. This simplified approach has proven to be well-received not only by architecture students at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, but also by students at other architecture faculties in Croatia and the region, as well as by some civil engineering students.
The goal is not to present complex mathematical derivations, but rather to explain the fundamentals and logic of structural statics and its applications in a clear and accessible way—while still covering the essential and most commonly used calculation methods. For this reason, in addition to the theoretical content, the textbook includes numerous solved examples, as we believe that structural statics is best understood and learned through practical application.
