A VISION OF A FUTURE CITY: The HORIZON 2050 A Glimpse into the Future

The publication A VISION OF A FUTURE CITY: The HORIZON 2050 – A Glimpse into the Future offers an interdisciplinary perspective on envisioning the future of cities and the possibilities for their development in accordance with sustainable, inclusive, and desirable models of urban living. At its core are analyses and interpretations of the developmental visions of around thirty European cities, as well as research conducted at the Faculty of Architecture within the course Workshop 3 – Urbanism and Research Seminar.
The book explores contemporary trends in urban development, the key functions of the city, and European charters and agendas related to spatial planning. A special contribution comes from guest experts from various disciplines, offering their reflections on the future of urban spaces, while the final part of the publication presents students’ visions of 21st-century Zagreb, focused on sustainable and inclusive development models.
The publication is the result of the teaching and research work of the Department of Urbanism, Spatial Planning, and Landscape Architecture and is linked to the scientific project “Sustainable Regeneration Models in Contemporary Strategies of European Cities” (AF research for 2023 and 2024), funded by the University of Zagreb.
