The course focuses on the acquisition of specialist terminology, developing reading skills, improving and extending the knowledge of specialist and general vocabulary, developing communicative and written competence. Course materials are based on a selection of authentic texts from various sources with architecture-based topics.
Topics: architecture in relation to other sciences, the history of engineering,
mathematics in architecture through history, geometry in architecture, proportion and scale, Ancient Roman architecture, building materials.
Students are expected to develop their oral and written competence in English for architecture purposes in order to be able to meet the requirements of their further academic education and future professional work. The knowledge and skills acquired should help them in their future professional careers as well as to integrate more successfully into the international professional, scientific and business community within the architectural profession.
