The course deals with sustainability-related issues when refurbishing existing building stock. The course focuses on the upgrading of the building envelopes taking into account energy-efficiency and energy-saving aspects.
This course is designed to encourage the inclusion of energy-related aspects in the design considerations for upgrading measures. Students are expected to further develop their competence
in the planning of conversions, energy-efficiency upgrades, conservation of historic structures, materials, damproofing and thermal insulation measures, in order to be able to meet the energy-effiiciency requirements. This course will help students to gain an insight into this topic and stimulate them to consider sustainability-related issues when refurbishing existing building stock. Knowledge and skills acquired should help students in their future professional career.
